Selection Criteria for SPA Operators
About Us
- Spa operators who wish to be part of the project must be members of good standing of the spa association.
- Preference will be given to small and medium scale enterprises (less than 250 employees). For this project, the "company" will be defined strictly as those that are registered locally as businesses. Operations of international spa brands will be treated as individual companies if they are registered locally as such. Spas located in hotels will be treated as separate operations from the hotel.
- The spa operator must be willing to send at least one spa therapist to study the designated CIBTAC course (100 hrs). The spa operator must shoulder cost of transportation, meal allowances, other incidentals, and if needed, accommodation of their designated spa therapist.
- The spa operator must be willing to conduct a 20-day in-house training for at least 20 of their therapists.
- The spa operator must be willing to complete documentation requirements of the project such as keeping a record of spa visits by those coming from a European country, accounting for expenses incurred in the training of therapists; and providing a list of names of therapists trained.
- The spa operator must be willing to undergo training on European standards of spa operation and safety and must implement those standards which are applicable and practical to their operation.
- The spa operator must be willing to attend meetings with travel/tour operators.
