Report: Marketing Spa & Wellness to European Market Workshop in the Philippines
The Spa Association of the Philippines, Inc. (SAPi) thru the European Union Asia Invest Programme held a one day workshop with selected members of the Philippine Tour Operators Association (PHILTOA) and the National Association of Independent Travel Agencies Philippines, Inc. (NAITAS) to come up with spa tour packages which will increase the number of European guests availing of spa visits in the Philippines.
This activity aims to internationalize the operation of spas in the Philippines. PhilTOA and NAITAS also presented insights, demographics of the Europeans as market for Spa and Wellness. They also gave pointers on what the European markets are looking for. Before the workshop ended the group was able to develop different spa packages for the European market.
Report: Business Matching Workshop between TSPA & ATTA
The Thai Spa Association (TSPA) has taken its 1st step in bringing to reality the two year EU Asia Invest Programme with partners Spa Association of the Philippines, Association of Malaysian Spas, Bali Spa & Wellness Association.
TSPA arranged the Business Matching Workshop between Thai Spa Association members and Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA) members with the aim to increase the number of EU travelers visiting the spas of Thailand.
The next step is the commencement of Anatomy & Physiology and Body Massage training with CIBTAC and Chiva-Som Spa Academy, for the first group of what will eventually be 1,000 spa therapists trained in each participating country under the Asia Invest Programme.
Report: EU Asia-Invest project presented at ISWEC
Jomar Fleras, EU Asia Invest project manager, was invited as a speaker to the International Spa and Wellness Exhibition and Conference (ISWEC) at the Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia last 15-17 July. Mr. Fleras talked about the European Union Asia Invest Project and how the conference participants which composed of spa therapists, spa managers and owners can be part of the project.
Update: EU Asia Invest Programme
One of the objectives of the project "Internationalising the Operation of Spas in the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia" is to enhance the capacity of 50 spa operators from each of the Spa Associations of Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Malaysia in providing spa services that conform to European standards of spa operations and safety.
The project will conduct training of 50 spa therapists in each country in international and European vocational standards, suitable for the employment needs of each region. Asian therapists will be trained on European massage techniques using the CIBTAC syllabus at CIBTAC accredited centres.
The Bali Spa and Wellness Association (BSWA) was the first one to start the first batch of CIBTAC training last July 29 with 20 spa therapists at the Pacific International Beauty Institute. The Spa Professionals International Development Center in the Philippines started last August 4 with 26 spa therapists while Chiva-Som International Academy was chosen by the Thai Spa Association (TSPA) for the training of 15 spa therapists starting August 18. The Association of Malaysian Spas (AMSPA) will start on September 15 with sixteen spa therapists at the Energy Academy in Kuala Lumpur.
